Save Energy

WWF in association with EMC has started a venture to save enegry by promoting extended use of Solar Energy. The inaugural session of this venture was started with the members of Periyar Balajanasakhyam Pattoor. The inauguration was done by Mr Samuel John , President PHAS AOAA Pattoor. Mr Sivakumar and two project officers from WWF Trivandrum were present on the occasion.

Periyar Balajanasa​khyam bags second position for outstandin​g performanc​e

Periyar Balajanaskyam of KSHB Apartment Complex Pattoor has bagged the second position for their outstanding perfomance for the various activities carried out during the last summer vacation 2013 May-Jun.

Congratulating all the balajanaskhyam members for this remarkable achievement in less than a year of their formation on 8th January 2013.

17-Nov-2013 - Second Position in Quiz

We are proud to inform that our balajanaskhyam members bagged second position in the Quiz Competition ( Juniors ) conducted by Malayala Manorama, among the Thiruvananthapuram Union of Akhila Kerala Balajanasakhyam. The competition was held on 17-Nov-2013 at the Malayala Manorama ofice. Our team was represented represented by :

1. Devika J Nair ( Block 7 flat 626 )
2. Gopika C ( Block 7 flat 524 )

9-Jun-2013 : Meeting Sajitha Madhathil

On this day children were privileged to get an opportunity to talk to well known film and theatre artist Sabitha Madhathil. She talked to children about the award she received for the film Shutter and her experiences as a great artist.

26-Jan-2013-Republic Day Parade

The periyar balajanasakhyam were taken to Central Stadium to witness the 64h Republic Day celebrations. Children saw the parade by the various units like Bharat Scouts and Guides, various its of the millitary etc. They also watched the flag hoisting by Chief Minister Shri Oommen Chandy. 25-May-2013 : Venalkoottam and yoga classes Prize distribution

The vacation coming to an end, the children were  given prizes for their active involvement in the Venalkoottam activities and participation in the Yoga classes. Unit patron Mr Thomas gave away prizes to the children. The children once again presented the skit on "Paristhithi Samrakshenam" in presence of Mr Thomas.

Ms Roby Ajith presented an excellent skit on this            

day. They showcased the need of maintaining a clean and pollution free neighbourhood to keep away from deadly diseases.  The dedication shown by children in practising and presenting it in a beautiful manner was commendable.

Alaap, Anamika, Arundhathi, Devika, Milan, Mrinalini and Sera.

1-Jun-2013 : Venalkoottam - Kovalam trip

The closing ceremony of the Venalkoottam ( name of the vacation events of the periyar balajanasakhyam ) was celebrated with a trip to Kovalam and a sumptous dinner outside. At the beach, children drenched themselves head to toe. Parents had a tough time bringing back their kids from the irresitible waves.

12-May-2013 : Venalkoottam - Ecowalk thru the Honey Hills - The Tenmala trip

The next endeavor of the Venalkoottam kids was an adventurous journey to the Honey Hills - Tenmala.
Attended by good number of children and parents, the children enjoyed the beauty of nature, ventured into a number of adventurous games, spent their evening with deers in the deer park and relished the musical fountain that marked the end of the day long series of entertainment.

16-April to 24-April-2013 : Yoga classes

It was decided to conduct a week long Yoga class for the children to help them understand the benefits of Yoga and meditation. The Yoga classes were Inaugurated by Yogacharya Rajakrishnan. The classes were further conducted under the guidance of Roby Ajith. Children were taught meditation, berathing exercises and a number of yogasanas. The classes were regularly conducted till the end of the vacation.

12-April-2013 : Venalkoottam - Museum trip

A trip to the museum at PMG junction, a ride around the zoo in a buggy and participation in a painting competition hosted in the museum premises was the next event of the Venalkoottam. Children enjoyed the buggy ride thoroughly which was only recently introduced for the visitors who travel around the zoo. Sera also won a prize in the painting contest.

7-April-2013 : Venalkoottam - HappyLand trip

The Venalkoottam team where in high spirits when they were taken to the water theme park HappyLand at Venjaramoodu, Trivandrum. The trip  attended by 15 childrenand 18 elders was a full day entertainment camp for both children and the grown ups.

2-April-2013 : Venalkoottam - Atul's Jazz

The first event of Venalkoottam ( the summer vacation events of the PeriyarBalajanaskhyam) was to celebrate World Autism Day. A dazzling Jazz performance by child artist Atul Fatahudeen was the main attraction of the day. He has keen interest in percussion instruments like drum, tabla, dhol etc. Atul is also a good singer.

26-Mar-2013 : Venalkoottam Inauguration

As planned the balajanasakhyam planned a variety of items for the summer vacation.
The activities to be planned during the vacation was coined the name : "Venalkoottam"

The Periyar Balajanasakhyam blog was inaugurated on this day by Mr Thomas, unit patron.

In his conversation with the children he spoke on the importance of Malayalam language, the plans for the Balajanasakhyam during vacation etc.

25-Feb-2013:Social Media and Internet

The most availed technology of the day - The Internet - was the topic of this day. Mr. Venugopal, General Manager, NeST Technopark, was the orator.
The agenda was to give an introduction to Internet and the latest developments in technology. Children were apprised of the origin and evolution of Internet and the latest developments like the social networking sites, blogging etc. A few snaps taken on the day...

16-Feb-2013 : Entertainment

It was the day of the young artists to showcase their talents. One after another the children displayed the items they were ready. While some of them sung songs, a few of them presented a skit. This was followed by musical chair and then antakshari. The children enjoyed the evening thoroughly.

9-Feb-2013 : Photography tips

It was a dream come true for the balajanasakhyam members who loved Photography. The chief guest of the session was  Mr Ajith Kumar who is associated with social media in the Chief Minister's office.
A passionate photographer, Mr Ajith explained to children the basics of photography. Various aspects to take care to take a good picture like background, color mix, modes, positioning etc were discussed. A no. of beautiful snaps connected to the topics were shown so the children could better understand the subject. To give a practical experience, Mr. Ajith handed his camera to the children. Children tried setting the camera in various modes and take a few snaps. This made the session more interesting..

01-Feb-2013:Talk on Soft skill

The next session was blessed with two powerful women from Sakhi - Women's resource centre. They were Ms Sreekala and Ms Rejitha.  Their session on soft skill development was on 01-Feb-2013. The event marked a highly interactive session between the guests ande the children. A beautiful song which started like " Oru viralakumpol..." was taught by Ms Sreekala, and the children thoroughly enjoyed singing and dancing to her tunes. They gave a number of tips on soft skill on how to be confident, how to interact, etc. During the session the children were made to do some activities too that helped them understand themselves, their strengths and improvement areas.

19-Jan-2013:Session on Mental Health of Children

On 19th January 2013, the Periyar Balajanasakhyam   

got the opportunity to converse with famous clinical psychologist of KIMS Hospital Dr. K A Kumar. Dr Kumar presented a seminar on "Mental Health of Children". The children made good use of the session and asked innumerble doubts to the expert in their domain.

Our Vice President Sera

Our Vice-president Sera Mariyam Binny, a child prodigy who has established herself as a marvellous artist at the tender age of 11, has gone ahead with publishing her book named "Serayude Yathrakal" and presented the same to our honourable President Shri.Pranab Mukherjee while he was on a state visit to Trivandrum on 30-31-Oct-2012.  Here are some snaps

About Us

Periyar Balajana Sakhyam is a new unit formed in PHAS Apartment Complex, Pattoor, Vanchiyoor (PO) , Trivandrum. Our aim is to :
 a) Promote personality development of the members.
b) Act as a platform for the members to improve their creative talents.
c) Promote friendship, peace , brotherhood and communal harmony.

Our first meeting was held on 6th Jan 2013 at 5th floor of Block-7, KSHB Apartment Complex, Pattoor, Vanchiyoor (PO), Trivandrum. This meeting was blessed with the presence of Mr.Thomas who is the unit patron of Balajanasakhyam and Mr.Suresh , who is a the coordinator of Balajanasakhyam. The following office bearers for the year 2013 was selected in this meeting.
